Our Founder:
Marisa Thalberg
Marisa
Thalberg, the Founder and President of Executive Moms, is the true embodiment of an executive mom
herself. In December, 2000, Marisa had attained the position of Vice President of Global Advertising at
Calvin Klein Cosmetics/ Unilever Cosmetics International, when she gave birth to her first child.
Returning to work, she felt a profound need to connect with other women who were, like her, managing
both a career and a family. Surprised to find that even in New York City (that bastion of work-life) no
significant organization of this nature existed, Marisa found herself soon conceiving and giving birth
again-- in the summer of 2002-- to Executive Moms.
Executive Moms is perhaps the ultimate manifestation of a career devoted to communicating with
women. Marisa is presently the Vice President of Global Online Marketing for The Estee Lauder
Companies, where she is leading the company's efforts to connect with its consumers in the digital space
across its large portfolio of brands. Her career has spanned both the client and agency worlds;
dotted by even a brief stint as a television producer; she has also served as a consultant to a variety
of businesses across consumer products, services and entertainment.
For her work as an advertising and marketing executive, Marisa has been recognized with two
EFFIE awards for marketing effectiveness, and by Advertising Age as a
“Power Player.” Concurrently, for her work with Executive Moms Marisa was named a
2005 Pearl Honoree – Outstanding Contemporary Woman in Business by Project Legacy.
She was recently profiled on UNICEF.com as 1 of 8 iconic women worldwide challenging
traditions about women, work and family. Through Executive Moms, Marisa has become a sought-after voice
to the media on issues on motherhood, careers and busy women’s lifestyles. She has been extensively
quoted in newspapers around the country from the Wall Street Journal to the
Sacramento Bee, has appeared on numerous radio and TV stations including NBC, FOX,
in some cases as a spokesperson for companies ranging from Capital One to
Time/Life Books. Marisa is also a writer and is a featured essayist in the book,
“This Day: Diaries from American Women.” (Beyond Words Publishing, 2003).
Marisa is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brown University, with a B.A. in American
Civilization. She lives in New York City with her forbearing husband David and their generally perfect
daughters Hannah and Avery. |
